THIS IS A ORIGINAL MANUAL!!! SUPER DUPER RARE, October 20, 1941 revised March 25,1942 Army Air Forces issued Preliminary Handbook of Operation and Flight Instructions for the Lockheed P-38D and P-38E Lightning Fighter Airplanes, T.O. 01-75FB-1, 29 pages in EXCELLENT, CLEAN condition! Please view the PICTURES of the manual for the content and condition. The Lockheed P-38D and E series airplanes were the first production variants of the P-38 series. P-38D's had a armored windshield and self sealing fuel tanks, which 36 were built. P-38E was the first combat ready Lightning which had revised armament and 210 of these were built. Both of these variants were powered by a Allison V-1710-27 and 29 engines. These models are where the four .50 caliber and one 20MM cannon armament were settled on. The guns were arranged symmetrically in the P-38D but from the P-38E and later variants, they were staggered with the muzzles protruding from the nose in relative lengths of roughly 1:4:6:2 to ensure smooth belt fed ammo into the guns as the earlier arrangement on the D model was prone to jam. This manual shows a pilot everything he needed to know to fly this ICONIC bird with photos and diagrams and has 1 fold out!
